About Kyunghwa Girls' Private School
Kyunghwa's campus has three schools- the high school, English Business high school, and the middle school. Read below to learn more about each school.
Hi, it's Katie! Kyunghwa Girls' Private School is comprised of three schools located on one campus in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. Mandeep and I were co-teachers at Kyunghwa Girls' High School. The high school has an application process to get in and prepares students to apply for and enter college. There were two classrooms on the first floor that we used, E1 served as an "office" for the KU teachers at the high school and E2 was where the classes actually took place. There are three grades, first grade, second grade, and third grade, which can be compared to sophomore, junior, and senior classes. At the high school, we taught the first and second graders because the third graders are preparing for the college entrance exam. The girls usually stay in their home room and stay with the same class all day. However, for the English conversation class, the girls would come down to E2. There is one native English teacher employed for the English conversation class with the Korean homeroom teacher supervising. During the day you will get to observe the lessons and interact with the students. They are all extremely bright and enthusiastic to meet the KU teachers! Both the faculty and student body at Kyunghwa welcome you with open arms!

Hey, it's Brooklyn! I had the opportunity to work with the youngest bunch of students at Kyunghwa Girls' Middle School. The middle school is home to first, second, and third graders, who are ages 12-14. Just like the high school, we only taught first and second grade due to the third graders preparing for entering high school. First grade has 9 classes and second grade has 10 classes, and each class has 34-36 students. The middle schoolers are full of energy and are a very fun group to teach. They do have a fairly low level of English for the most part, but they are very excited to learn! The middle school also has some special opportunities for the teachers, such as Morning English, which is a daily 15 minute broadcast where the school practices English together. The KU students are able to participate and even help prepare the lessons for the broadcasts, and it is super fun! The classes you will teach are based on English conversation rather than grammar, and you will be paired with a native English speaking teacher as well as a Korean teacher who can help along the way. It is an amazing school with friendly staff and bright students, and I absolutely loved working there.

Hello, it's Raffaella! I had the privilege of working with the students and staff of Kyunghwa's English Business High School, otherwise known as Kyunghwa EB High School! This school is separate from the regular high school and serves as a sort of training program for girls who want to begin working immediately after graduating high school. EB equips them with the skills they need to succeed in the business world, including a comprehensive knowledge of Business English. The English Department has its own wing on the third floor of the school, where the two native English teachers hold conversational English classes. There are three grades at EB: first grade, second grade, and third grade. In the English course, classes are split into two levels – A and B – depending on their English skill level. A level has the students with higher English skills and B level has the students with lower English skills. But don’t let the seriousness of it all fool you! The girls at this school are no strangers to fun and games, and I had a delightful time interacting with them during my time at Kyunghwa EB.
